Shibu K. Nair is a graduate in commerce and a diploma holder in mass communication and journalism. Awarded Zero Waste Fellowship in 2002 and completed training on Zero Waste from Ecology Centre and GAIA in Berkeley, California. Joined Thanal in 1991 to volunteer for environment education programmes and since 2000 leads the Zero Waste programmes, projects and campaigns of Thanal.
He is the Director, Climate Change and Zero Waste at Thanal. He coordinates Zero Waste Himalaya Network and is a Regional Advisory Committee Member of Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives- Asia Pacific Region. He was a guest faculty in Kerala Institute of Local Administration and State Institute of Rural Development under Ministry of Local Self Government of Kerala.
He represents Thanal in State level Government Technical / Monitoring committees on Solid Waste and Plastic waste Management. He provides technical consultancy to governments, institutions and communities on solid waste management and zero waste systems.
He is member of Planning Committee on Solid Waste Management of Municipal Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
